Day 0: Sunday 19 February 2023 - Arriving Bangkok

Today is arrival day, the beginning of a four week organised birding tour. We are exploring Thailand and Singapore with the trip broken up into two distinct tours. Our team leader is Ken Cross a very good birder and a great bloke. I travelled with Ken to Cambodia in 2019 and had a wonderful time exploring many parts of Cambodia and chalking up 255 species in three weeks. Needless to say when the opportunity arose to join him once again, I jumped at the chance.

There are ten of us travelling together. Six of us travelling from Australia, a couple from the USA and another couple from Canada. The trip over went pretty much without a hitch. The group arrived in Bangkok in staggered intervals. As one of the first arriving, I spent the afternoon relaxing at our resort and a little sneaky birding from the comfort of the swimming pool. Dinner at Shark Bite gave all participants an opportunity to meet and get to know each other a little.

Oriental Magpie Robin
