Todays itinerary - to be birding the Montain section of
Mae Wong National Park at the top campsite vicinity and the roadside edges. A particularly nice section of the park. Mae Wong is one of the western-most parks in Thailand and we had one full day to explore it. It is home to a few very rare species like Burmese Yuhina and Coral-billed Scimitar-Babbler neither of which we managed to locate. We made the climb to 1900 meters gradually, stopping along the way to bird the different zones. Once at the top we enjoyed the views from the camp ground and the wildlife that came out into the open making observation and photography easier.
